FODMAP FOSS
A free and open-source FODMAP diet app for Android and the web. No ads, no accounts, no tracking — just a clean tool for managing a low-FODMAP diet.
What is FODMAP?
FODMAP stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyols — a group of short-chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine. For people with IBS and other digestive sensitivities, a low-FODMAP diet can significantly reduce symptoms.
Managing the diet means checking individual foods against a reference list — which is exactly what FODMAP FOSS is built for.
Built with privacy in mind
No account required
Use the app immediately with no sign-up, no email, and no personal data collected.
Offline first
All FODMAP data is bundled with the app. Look up foods anywhere, no internet needed.
Android & Web
A single TypeScript codebase that targets both Android via Cordova and the browser.
Free forever
No ads, no premium tier, no paywalls. Open-source under the GPL-3.0 licence.
Food database
Know exactly what's in every food
Each food entry breaks down its FODMAP content by compound — fructose, lactose, fructans, GOS, and polyols — so you can see precisely which categories are contributing to a high score, not just whether a food is safe or not.
Portion size guidance is built in, so you understand how serving size changes the picture. A food that's high at one portion may be perfectly tolerable at another.

Symptom diary
Find the patterns your gut is trying to tell you
Log your meals and symptoms together in a daily diary. Over time, correlations between what you eat and how you feel become visible — helping you identify your personal triggers rather than relying on generic guidance alone.
All diary data stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or shared.

Appearance
Looks right at home, day or night
Full light and dark mode support, following your system preference automatically. The dark theme is designed with OLED displays in mind — true blacks, low eye strain, and easy to read in any lighting condition.
You can also override the system preference and pin your preferred mode within the app settings.

Tech stack
A single TypeScript codebase, compiled to both a native Android APK via Apache Cordova and a static web app via Vite.
Open source
FODMAP FOSS is fully open-source under the GPL-3.0 licence. The entire codebase — from the food database to the UI — is available on GitHub. Contributions welcome.
